Shivamogga: Tension prevailed for a while near Shivappa Nayaka circle on Monday when a 25-year-old Muslim woman, said to be mentally unstable, raised 'Allahu Akbar' slogans when activists of Hindu organisations were distributing sweets to people to mark the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking to DH, Superintendent of Police G K Mithun Kumar said the woman was heading towards Shivappa Nayaka circle in a scooter with a three-year-old kid from Ashoka circle. After seeing the crowd, she stopped the vehicle and started taking images of the crowd. Police asked her to park the vehicle as it would otherwise disrupt the movement of vehicles.

Activists of Hindu organisations were raising slogans in favour of Lord Rama. Hearing this, she also raised the slogan 'Allahu Akbar'. People who were present there were shocked and police immediately took her into custody to prevent untoward incidents.

Speaking to media persons, Syed Abbas, father of the woman, said his daughter has been under treatment from 2018. Though she was married to a man in Davangere, she is living in Shivamogga due to issues in marital life. "I was following her in another vehicle. But I missed the way due to the procession," he said.

He promised that he would take utmost care to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
