Bodies of six people were retrieved from Arabian Sea near Koormagad near here on Tuesday.
A total of 14 people had drowned after a boat ferrying devotees to the mainland from an island temple capsized off the Karwar coast on Monday.
The search for two bodies is still on. The six deceased have been identified as Kiran Somappa Belavalagoppa (6) of Hosur, Shiggaon taluk, Haveri district, Parashuram (35), Sanjeevini (15), Sowjanya (12), Shreyas Pavaskar (28) of Sunkeri, Karwar and Geetha Hulaskar (23). Most of the deceased hail from Haveri district.
Boat owner Dayanand Ram Jadhav, Gokuldas Ram Jadhav, Mahendra Jagadeesh Jadhav and Yeshwanth Chopdekar have been considered as accused in the incident.
A case has been registered at Chittakula police station in this regard.
It is estimated that 35 people were in the boat. Eight bodies had been retrieved on Monday and 19 people had been rescued.
Meanwhile, the search for the bodies of the drowned people is on in the sea. Amartya, a huge boat of Coast Guard and Tilanchag, a big boat of Navy have been pressed into service.
The search operation began at 6 am on Tuesday. Five teams of Police Department, Tagore Beach Committee and Life Guards have been set up for the purpose. Also, C-155, C-420 and C-123 boats of Coast Guard are searching in the sea along with two helicopters and Dornier aircraft of Navy.
