The Kendriya Vidyalaya will start functioning from the 2021-22 academic year at Sadalaga in Belagavi district, initially for classes I to V.
The school at Sadalaga, which comes under the Chikkodi Lok Sabha segment, will start functioning in a building provided by the state government till the school constructs its new building. The school will grow consequentially up to class XII.
Besides Sadalaga, a Kendriya Vidyalaya will start functioning from the 2021-22 academic year at Ropar in Punjab.
“When they start functioning in full capacity, around 1,000 students of the area will be benefited from each school. The admission process in both the Vidyalayas will start in the academic year 2021-22,” a statement from the ministry of education said.
“It gives me immense pleasure to announce that the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghathan is starting two new schools in Karnataka and Punjab,” said Minister for Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
From 20 schools in the year of establishment - 1963, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghathan now has 1,247 schools in the year 2020-21, including three KVs abroad – Moscow, Kathmandu and Tehran.
The Kendriya Vidyalayas for Sadalaga and Ropar were approved by the Union Cabinet in March 2019, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The Cabinet had approved a proposal to set up 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas under the civil and defence sector.
