Karnataka Housing Board President G T Deve Gowda said that the KHB is planning to form housing layouts in all the district headquarters. If the Board gets suitable land, layout will be developed in Madikeri as well.
Speaking after inaugurating golden jubilee hall of Kodagu district Cooperative Union, at Madikeri on Sunday, he said the State Cabinet has okayed the forming of layouts at 53 places.
He urged MLC M C Nanaiah, ZP President Shantheyanda Ravi Kushalappa, CMC President H M Nandakumar to identify the land for forming layouts in Madikeri.
Earlier speaking to mediapersons, he said “last year, the Board had decided to form layout at Galibeedu. However, the proposal was dropped in the backdrop of the allegations that the price for the land fixed was much higher than the actual price. The KHB has already formed layout in Kushalnagar. We want to form similar layout in Madikeri.”
About 20 per cent of the sites will be earmarked for the poor while allotting the sites. The allotment of the sites will be carried out in a transparent manner. The beneficiaries will be picked through lottery system.
Three layouts in Mysore
The KHB has already started forming the layout at Ilavala in Mysore. Three more layouts will be formed in Mysore, Gowda said.
MLC M C Nanaiah said that the cooperative banks should stop misusing the funds given by the government. The loans borrowed from the cooperative banks are paid on time in Kodagu district.
There is a need to check political interference in cooperative sector. Hence, the Union government will implement uniform Cooperative Act. Zilla Panchayat President Shantheyanda Ravi Kushalappa, CMC President H M Nandakumar, and others were present.
