A sum of Rs 8.43 crore have been disbursed, said Assistant General Manager of Syndicate Bank Regional Office H Vasanth Nayak.
Speaking at the district- level review committee meeting for banking in Udupi on Tuesday, he informed that during the second quarter that ended on September 30, the banks could disburse loans to the extent of Rs 730 crore against the target of Rs 818 crore recording 89 per cent achievement.
Rs 307 crore out of this was disbursed to the agricultural sector recording 127 per cent achievement against the target of Rs 242 crore. Rs 68 crore was disbursed to industrial sector against a target of Rs 124 crore. The achievement level is 55 per cent. The amount distributed for tertiary sector is Rs 168 crore against the target of Rs 246 crore, recording an achievement level of 68 per cent, he added.
The total deposits of the banking sector in Udupi district stood at Rs 7,082 crore showing a growth of 19 per cent. Total advances stood at Rs 3,366 crore with a growth rate of 14 per cent as on September 30.
Rs 543 crore has been distributed for priority sector against the target of Rs 612 crore, he said and added that Rs 299 crore has been lent to the development programmes of the weaker sections which includes Rs 45 crore earmarked to SC/ST beneficiaries. The programme has covered 72,637 beneficiaries. About 33,781 beneficiaries belonging to minority community have been financially assisted with Rs 305 crore, he said.
