Kodagu district administration has made necessary preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The officials have been asked to adhere to the implementation of the model code of conduct.
Addressing reporters at the deputy commissioner’s office in Madikeri on Monday, Additional Deputy Commissioner T Yogesh said that preparations will be made to conduct elections in Kodagu-Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency in the first phase.
As many as 2,769 PWD (persons with disabilities) voters have been identified in the district. The district administration will make facilities to bring PWD voters to the polling booth.
As many as 7,080 young voters have been included in the voters’ list in 2018-19. There has been an increase of 3% in the number of voters compared to previous elections, said the additional deputy commissioner.
Model code of conduct
Speaking at the meeting of election nodal officers, Zilla Panchayat CEO K Lakshmi Priya said that sector officers, flying squads and video teams should be alert in maintaining the model code of conduct.
As many as 56 MCC (model code of conduct) teams, 41 sector officers, 42 static surveillance teams, 14 flying squads and 14 check-posts have been opened. These check-posts include three inter-state check-posts, she said.
It is mandatory to instal GPS to the vehicles deployed on election duty, she added.
A demonstration of the electronic voting machine control unit, ballot unit and VVPAT was held in Elane Hosakote, Andagove and Heruru polling booths in Somwarpet taluk.
