Addressing reporters here, he said the State has two legal options –– one, to file a review petition under Section 5 of Inter-State Water Disputes Act or to file a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court.
The government will consult with the Krishna river basin farmers, elected representatives, former water resources ministers and opposition leaders in February to arrive at a decision on whether to file a review or not. “We have two issues with the award: proper utilisation of allocated water and our actual requirement,” he said.
The minister ruled out the possibility of pumping the Krishna river water to the State capital to quench the thirst of Bangaloreans. The BWSSB had plans to tap the Krishna river source as it had already exhausted its quota under the Cauvery river source.
