The Lokayukta special court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of Yerabati Ashwin, son of Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao, and others accused in the corruption and extortion cases involving the Lokayukta office, till September 9.

Ashwin and others accused in the case -Syed Riyaz, suspended Joint Commissioner (PRO), V Bhaskar, Srinivasa Gowda, Shankare Gowda and Ashok Kumar-were produced before the court in connection with the case. Since their bail applications were dismissed by the Lokayukta court, the prosecutor requested the court to extend their judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Bhaskar alias ‘420’ Bhaskar, filed the bail application and the court directed the prosecution to file the objection by September 1. Sources said that though all the other accused, whose bail applications were dismissed, moved the High Court, Ashwin is yet to file an application seeking bail.
