Machines auctioned at Central workshop

The shifting of the Deputy Commissioner’s office from Old Fort premises to the central workshop premises is likely to be realised soon with the administration auctioning the machineries at the Central workshop. Machines meant for wood work, lathe machines and furnitures worth Rs 15,38,313 was auctioned recently.

Hundreds of bidders from Mysore, Bangalore, Hassan, Piriyapattana and Kerala took part in the auction of machineries which was held on July 18.

Machines from Germany

The machines which were auctioned include saw mill, Lathe machine from Germany, drilling machine, pressing machine, grinder machine, 2 tonne capacity crane, 25 HP and 20 HP motors, sharpner machine, 7.5 HP power hammer and others.

The most sought after machine was Lathe machine. As many as 49 bidders had taken part in the bidding of this machine. The machine was brought by Shafinaz of Gonikoppa.

He had applied for Rs 13 lakh in the tender. B Nagaraju of Nanajgoodu had applied for furnitures at the cost of Rs 5,000 and Abdul Razak of Madikeri had applied for iron articles worth Rs 2,33,313.  “On the direction of the Deputy Commissioner, tender was invited in the month of June. Interested bidders took part in the auctioning. The auctioning process was held in a systematic manner,” said Government Central Workshop Director H R Shivanna. 

The auctioning process was attended by Industrial department joint director H S Prakash, and H R Shivanna.

As the Deputy Commissioner’s office which is situated in Old Fort premises belong to the department of archeology, the department had written to the state government to shift all the government offices functioning in its premises. 

Old building

The Central Workshop is situated in 2.20 acre. The building is more than 50 years old. It was constructed to repair the government vehicles in 1954-55.

The workshop was used for repairing the vehicles, painting and etc.  However, the workshop is of no use in the recent years.

Accordingly, the state government has given its nod to construct District Complex in the workshop premises last year.
