Members of Mahamadiga Janashakti (Scheduled Caste-left wing) have set a one-month deadline to the government to implement the Justice Sadashiva Commission report on internal reservation for SCs.
The Janashakti members have decided to take out a protest march on October 2 in Bengaluru, pressing for their demand, “which will ensure justice to those who have failed to get the benefits of reservation in education and employment”.
The community has blamed all three major parties – Congress, BJP and JD(S) – for not taking any measures to provide internal reservation. The Janashakti members have threatened to ‘teach these parties a lesson’ in the next Lok Sabha polls if the demand is not fulfilled.
The Sadashiva Commission had recommended that internal reservation should be provided with 15% reservation fixed for SCs: 6% to left wing, 5% to right wing, 3% to ‘touchables’ and 1% to other SC communities. But the internal reservation has become a controversial issue with some SC right wing groups and their leaders vehemently opposing it.
