The district administration should make efforts in right earnest to take up drought relief measures, as the situation is getting worse by the day, 22 hours regular power supply, implement permanent irrigation project, issue compensation to farmers who have incurred loss due to natural calamities and other reasons, were their major demands.

Their other demands also included action against the official who are responsible for the delay in taking up relief measures, issue loans on 3 per cent interest rate, arrangement for issuing pahani to the farmers at their doorsteps, to convert temporary ration cards to permanent one, stop illegal mining, and steps to stop malpractice by the agents at the APMC.
The protesters took out a procession in the City and submitted a memorandum to the assistant commissioner. The protest was led by district unit president M N Krishnappa, taluk unit president Venkata Reddy, district unit secretary Ramachandra Sharma, leaders Puradagadde Krishnappa, Maralukunte Nanjundappa, Lakshmi Narayana, B R Narayanaswamy and Manjunath.
