The Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti on Sunday demanded that the Karnataka government make the A J Sadashiva Committee report on internal reservation public, soon.

Members of the Samiti at a public meeting noted that the government held back the report, as it feared repercussions. Hence the delay in implementation of the report.

Addressing the meeting, M Nagaraj, a DSS member from Raichur, said the Committee has not included dalits converted to Christianity. According to the report, the Committee had said the State had 96 lakh dalits. “A few lakh among them have converted to Christianity, as per conservative estimates. The report, however, fails to throw light on the matter.”

Former MLC Hanumanthaiah, also speaking on the occasion, said that there were a lot of vacancies unfilled in the government sector. In the light of this, the implementation of the report becomes imminent. “In PWD, of the 250 posts of engineers reserved for SC/ST, only 50 vacancies have been filled.”
