A passenger alighted from the bus at Uppinangady, when the KSRTC conductor asked him to pay the fare for the two chicken he was carrying.
A resident of Kupperi was carrying two live chicken to offer at a Daivasthana at Shiradi Gadi and boarded a bus bound for Sakleshpur. The ticket fare was Rs 77. When the bus conductor asked him to pay Rs 154 taking into account the two chicken, the man refused to pay the amount.
As per the rules laid out by the Transport Department, a conductor should collect half the fare when a passenger carries a chicken. The man pledged not to travel in the bus while carrying a chicken and alighted from the bus.
