An employee who had planted crude bombs outside the house of his employer at Polya village near Kabaka in Puttur taluk was arrested from Alakkodu bus stand in Kannur district in Kerala on Friday evening.
The accused employee, 81-year-old Balu alias Babu, Devasya Sebastian alias Mohammed had confessed to planting the crude bombs in order to seek revenge against his employer Narayan Prasad who had chided him for coming home drunk.
In the wee hours on October 16, one among the three crude bombs planted outside the house had exploded, ripping the door apart. Due to the intensity of the bomb, the window panes were also damaged. Narayan Prasad’s wife Shalini who was behind the door took the full impact of the explosion with her legs receiving serious injuries. She also suffered injuries on her forehand and hands. Due to the injuries, Shalini was shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
Soon after the explosion, police had defused the remaining two crude bombs and had pressed the dog squad to service. Two teams had been formed the nab the accused Balu alias Mohammed who was in possession of crude bombs as he used to work in a quarry. The team after an intensive hunt that took them across many places succeeded in nabbing Balu.
