Hanumanthachar Joshi, principal of the college told a media conference here on Tuesday that eminent neuroscientists, neurosurgeons, researchers, research scholars and students from various institutions from all parts of the country will take part in the conference.

Scientists from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), various universities, research institutions pharmaceutical industries would participate.
The participants include Harsh Hegde, scientist, ICMR, Belgaum, Milind Parle, Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar, Haryana, Sriramachandra Setty, Bangalore, Nagappa, Manipal University, Viresh Bantal, Hyderabad, Chandrashekar, Bagalkot and other scientists will deliver lectures.
He said Alzhemer’s disease was an irreversible, progressive brain disease that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills, especially among the elderly people. The damage to brain begins as early as 10 to 20 years before any problems are evident.
A conference on Alzheimer was being held for the first time in the city, he said.
MLC G Madhusudan will inaugurate the meet. Geetha Avadhani, director, Mysore Medical college and Research Institute, Mysore, and Narayan Rao, president of Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions will be chief guest.
S Shiva, advocate and member, management committee will be present. On the occasion, a new post graduate department in pharmacy will also be inaugurated.
The valedictory of the programme will be held on June 24 at 5 pm. State medical education and district in-charge minister S A Ramdas will be chief guest for the valedictory event, Joshi said.
