Addressing a news conference, College of Fisheries Department of Aquatic Environment Professor Dr H R V Reddy said that following the public consultation on the Coastal Management Zone (CMZ) 2008 notification, the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) constituted a four member Committee under the chairmanship of Prof M S Swaminathan to recommend future steps on draft Coastal Management Zone (CMZ) On the recommendation of the Committee the CMZ 2008 Notification has lapsed and the MoEF is keen to gather the public opinion about the committee’s recommendation and incorporate appropriate suggestions before bringing in further amendments to strengthen the existing CRZ 1991.
