Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) has organised another Mega Lok Adalat in the state on March 27, 2021. The KSLSA had organised two Mega Lok Adalats amidst the Covid-19 pandemic in September and December 2020.
Justice Aravind Kumar, who is also the executive chairman of KSLSA, informed that around 2.74 lakh cases have been identified for settlement in the Lok Adalat to be held on March 27.
Former Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde will inaugurate the Mega Lok Adalat in which 958 judges/judicial officers will hear the matters.
"In the Lok Adalat held on September 19, 2020, a total 1,15,938 cases, including 7,383 pre-litigation cases and 1,08,555 pending cases, were settled. In the Lok Adalat held in December 2020, a total 2,63,215 cases, including 16,325 pre-litigation cases and 2,46,890 pending cases, were disposed of. This apart, a sum of Rs 41.59 crore was deposited to the credit of the government which was collected as fine and penalty," he said.
In the Lok Adalat to be held on March 27, matters such as MACT cases, matters related to financial institutions, criminal compoundable cases, including Negotiable Instruments Act cases, civil suits, family court matters (except divorce) will be taken up either physically or through video conference.
