While the district had received a total of Rs 9.04 crore, which include Rs 5.4 crore Central sanction and Rs 60 lakh from the State government, for the implementation of the Scheme for the year 2010-11, only 54 works were taken up spending Rs 43.2 lakh by the end of August. A total of Rs 2.09 crore was reserved for the implementation of the Scheme in Madikeri taluk. However, only Rs 1.81 crore was spent to take up six works in the taluk.
While a total of Rs 3.01 crore was sanctioned for Somwarpet taluk, only 24 works were completed spending Rs 22.09 lakh. Meanwhile, Virajpet taluk had received a total of Rs 2.69 crore for the Scheme out of which Rs 18.11 lakh was spent to complete 24 works. The statistics was submitted by the officials at the KDP meeting chaired by Zilla Panchayat President V M Vijaya at the Kote Hale Vidhana Sabhangana here on Thursday.
Officials informed that while a total of 12,500 families have registered under the Scheme in Madikeri taluk, 12,347 have received job cards.
In Somwarpet taluk, there are 15,643 registered families and 16,379 registered families in Virajpet taluk. There are 44,522 families, who are registered under the MGNREGS in the district.
