Chikkamagaluru: During the inauguration ceremony of the Vokkaliga Association's Silver Jubilee Building, minister K J George's speech was interrupted by some individuals when he mentioned guarantee schemes.
The inauguration took place on Monday near the AIT Circle in Chikkamagaluru at the new 'Vokkaliga Bhavana' building of the district Vokkaliga association.
As the minister began his speech, some people expressed objections when he brought up the guarantee schemes. They protested, saying, "This is not a political platform; if you want to talk politics, step down."
The minister, feeling embarrassed, responded angrily, "Do not disrupt the speech with political motives; Even I can engage in politics."
Adichunchanagiri Mutt's Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji intervened to calm the situation. Returning to the microphone, the minister apologised, saying, "If my words have hurt anyone, I apologise."
Later, speaking at a review meeting on the progress of guarantee schemes, K J George stated, "Some individuals objected to my mention of guarantee schemes at the Vokkaligas' association event. I mentioned it for the benefit of the people, as these are state government programmes."
He further added, "However, since it is a scheme implemented by Congress, others did not appreciate it. Guarantee schemes are not limited to any party, caste, or religion."
