Minister for Women and Child Development Jayamala visited two anganwadi centres in Mangaluru on Monday.
The minister paid a surprise visit to anganwadi centres at Bejai Kapikad and Shaktinagara Padavu and interacted with the anganwadi workers and midday meal workers.
She inspected the food being supplied to the children in the anganwadi centre.
She also interacted with the children on the food being supplied to them. “The food should be supplied according to the menu. Keeping in mind the weather in the coastal region, buttermilk should be given to the children,” she said.
She directed the authorities to make arrangement for the outdoor play area in the anganwadi.
She also urged the block education officer to provide required land for the construction of a new anganwadi centre on Bejai government school premises.
Jayamala also inspected the storeroom and checked the quality of the pulses and cereals.
