Minister for Primary and Secondary Education N Mahesh on Wednesday sought the files related to the approval of 84 pre-university colleges to look into them.
According to a top source in the Pre-university Education Department, the minister sought for individual files that college managements had submitted for fulfilling criteria necessary for them to start functioning.
These were sent to the principal secretary by private pre-university college managements after applications were rejected by the director of the department C Shikha. “The minister will look into the files himself. An internal inquiry is being done,” said the source.
There was a controversy on granting permission to 84 new PU colleges. These applications were rejected by the department director as they did not meet the necessary norms.
