"On August 9, 2012, we received a call about a woman who was found near a closed shop in the city for four days. We rescued her. The woman, who had lost her mental stability, remembered only her name and the name of her hometown, but nothing else," said Corrine Rasquinha of White Doves.

"After we rescued her, she expressed a desire to return home. She mentioned having a son and a daughter and shared their names. She remembered that her hometown was Maddur. There are many places called 'Maddur' in the state, so identifying which one was hers was challenging," Rasquinha added.

"Three weeks ago, the police brought another mentally ill woman to White Doves. That woman was also from Maddur. We reunited her with her family. Our organization's manager, Gerald, informed that family about the Muslim woman from Maddur whom we had rescued 12 years ago. He asked if anyone from the family could provide information about her. They shared the information with a local meat shop owner," said Rasquinha.

Based on this information, Asif, Farzana’s son, who was young when his mother went missing, received the message and contacted White Doves in Mangaluru.

Farzana had left home, distressed by her husband's harassment. Now, her son is married and has two children.

Farzana's daughter, Sumaiyya, was finally reunited with her mother. Both children had longed to find her. Asif had learned about his sister who was adopted by a family, during his marriage, and Sumaiyya discovered her brother's existence through family members. Despite searching in Mysuru and Kerala, they had been unable to locate their mother.

It was found that Farzana was the second wife of a wealthy man whose first wife had passed away. Over time, Farzana developed a mental illness due to domestic abuse, while her husband became an alcoholic. She eventually began wandering the streets. Her daughter was adopted by another family, and her husband later died as well, said Rasquinha.
