Two prominent candidates from Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency - BJP candidate and sitting MP P C Mohan, and actor Prakash Raj (independent) - filed their nominations, in Bengaluru, on Friday.
Mohan filed his nominations after arriving in a procession along with BJP MP Rajeev Chandrashekar, MLAs Arvind Limbavali and R Ashoka. Actor Prakash Raj visited a temple, mosque and a church before his filing his nomination papers.
There were tense moments at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike office while Raj was leaving the premises after filing his nomination. BJP supporters who had arrived at the venue to support Mohan, raised pro-Modi slogans as soon as they saw the actor.
Irked, Raj climbed into his car and questioned Modi’s contributions in the last five years.
Speaking to the media, Raj said that he was being backed by the Aam Aadmi Party, women’s organisations and auto driver associations of the city.
“People should vote based on the candidates in contention rather than political parties,” he said, adding that none of the elected representatives had worked for the welfare of the public.
Mohan said that his developmental works in the last five years would ensure his re-election.
On his opponent Raj, he said that it was a well-known fact that the actor had knocked on Congress’ door for a ticket.
