Bengaluru: The opposition BJP demanded Wednesday that the site allotment scam at the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) must be handed over to the CBI, while describing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's appearance before the Lokayukta as "political circus" and "match-fixing".
"Everybody knows that the Lokayukta can't do anything. If the CM is truly honest and an open book, then the case must be handed over to the CBI," BJP leader BS Yediyurappa said.
Yediyurappa said Siddaramaiah being questioned by the Lokayukta was a "political circus to show that he's innocent".
Yediyurappa, a four-time CM, asked Siddaramaiah to resign in the wake of corruption allegations levelled by the Federation of Wine Merchants Association. "The whole world knows that (CM) is drowning in corruption," he said.
Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka also taunted Siddaramaiah. "The CM himself looted sites. He's now appearing in front of a policeman who works under him," he said.
Ashoka also pointed out that Siddaramaiah's tour programme for November 6 showed that he would arrive in Mysuru at 9.30 am to appear before the Lokayukta and then leave at 12 pm for the Channapatna bypoll campaign.
"Is this match-fixing? How does the CM know how long the investigator will take to finish questioning?"
Ashoka said. "And, have you ever seen in any case that the fourth accused is summoned first, and the prime accused is called last?"
