Shops in Mulki remain closed, following bandh call given by various organisations demanding relaxation for local vehicles at Hejamady toll gate.

Demanding relaxation for local vehicles from paying the toll at Hejamady, members of various organisations and political parties had called for a bandh on Tuesday.

The bandh received good response with all the merchants shutting down their business establishments at Mulki, Bappanadu, Vijaya College Road, Charanthi Pete, Karnadu and K S Rao Nagara.

The protesters carried out a padayatra from Mulki bus stand to the Hejamady toll on the occasion. The bandh had given an exemption for the sale of milk, petrol bunk, hospitals, and chemists.

Though autorickshaws have an exemption from paying the toll, the autorickshaw drivers supported the bandh to urge the NHAI to complete the work on the National Highway 66.
