Speaking with reporters on the sidelines of a photo exhibition on Mahakumbh-2010 at Chitrakala Parishad, Yeddyurappa said illegal mining is a major issue that needs to be addressed, but the Congress party, which had launched a march to Bellary did little to contain the menace while it was power.

Underlining the need for a national policy to ban iron ore export, he maintained that the Union Government has to take initiatives in this regard.
He added that the government will hold discussion with think tanks and litterateurs of the State to contain the activities of mining mafia.
