Mangaluru: The Mangaluru CCB (Crime Control Bureau) team has arrested a notorious rowdy sheeter involved in multiple serious offences in Ullal police station limits .
The arrested is Dawood (43), son of Bavakka alias Abubakkar, and a resident of Dharmanagar, Ullal. He was apprehended near Talapady-Devipura Road, Mangaluru, where he was conspiring to commit an offence against rival gang members, said Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal.
Based on credible information, the CCB team led by PSI Narendra went to arrest Dawood. During the operation, Dawood attacked the officers with a machete in an attempt to evade arrest, causing injuries to PSI Narendra and other personnel. Despite the attack, the team managed to overpower him and handed him over to Ullal Police Station for further action.
A case has been registered against Dawood at Ullal Police Station under Sections 352, 109(1), 121(1), 121(2), 115(2), 132, 3(5), and 351(1) of the BNS, 2023 based on complaint of Narendra, PSI CCB.
The commissioner said that Dawood was a habitual offender involved in several heinous crimes, including murder. Dawood is known for engaging in unlawful activities within Ullal and other jurisdictions, including Mangaluru South and Bajpe police station limits. There are 10 cases against him in Ullal police station limits. Further investigations are underway.
