Now, people can air public grievances through 'Spandana'

Now, the people can air their grievances related to more than 50 departments or offices in the district, online. Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri launched the web portal designed for the purpose on January 1.

Briefing media persons, the Deputy Commissioner said that the portal has been named 'Spandana' and complaints can be lodged with just a click of the mouse. "With the launching of the new online system, the people need not run from pillar to post or stand in long queues to submit petitions," she said.

Those who know to operate computers and smartphones can submit their grievances easily. The people can log on to the portal www.hassan.nic.in or http://web11.kar.nic.in:8080/hassan_pgrs to register their grievances. As the system helps in maintaining transparency, it becomes easy to assess the problems on priority and take necessary measures, the DC said.

Regular monitoring

In an effort to clear the applications, a nodal officer has been appointed. He will monitor the status of the applications. Regular review meetings will also be held in this regard, Rohini said.

The district administration, in association with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), has developed the portal, which will be user-friendly. The applications can be submitted in both English and Kannada languages, she added.

As soon as the person lodges a complaint through the web portal, an SMS will be delivered to the respective department head, with the complaint number. In case, the problem is not addressed within the stipulated time, an alert would also be sent, which ensures that the problem is sorted out, she explained.

The status of each grievance will be updated on the portal regularly, which can be tracked by the complainants. In case the problem is not solved, there are provisions for the people to bring it to the notice of the DC through e-mail or over the phone.
