The victim has been identified as Muddagangamma (62). This incident occurred due to the mixing of the drainage water with the tube well water, claimed Chowdappa Sanjeevappa of G Hosahalli.

As there was no mass feeding at the fair, contamination of water could be the reason behind people falling ill, he added. The water sample has been sent to the laboratory for testing, said Taluk medical officer Dr Shivaraj.

Shifted to Bangalore

Among those people admitted at the hospital the condition of one of them turned serious and was shifted to the Victoria Hospital in Bangalore. However, the remaining patients are stated to be out of danger, he added.

“As there were no beds at the hospital all the patients had to sleep on the floor. Moreover,   due to lack of drip holders they had to be carried in the hand throughout the night. Also there is no drinking water facility at the hospital,” complained Lakshmamma of G Hosahalli.
