A construction labourer was killed on the spot, while three others were injured after a wall collapsed on a makeshift shed at ITI Layout at CK Achukattu in Bengaluru South during wee hours of Saturday.
The deceased is Mahantesh (26), a native of Chincholi in Kalaburagi district.
The injured Parvathi (22), Sharanappa (34) and Shobha (27) are being treated at Victoria Hospital.
Gautham (19) escaped unhurt in the incident.
All the five are members of the same family and came to the city a year ago in search of work, said the police.
Parvathi is Mahantesh's wife, while Gautham is Parvathi's brother.
They reside at a makeshift shed adjacent to an under construction building.
Due to heavy rains in the last one week, the wall of a neighbouring building grew weak and collapsed on the shed around 1.45 am.
Mahantesh was killed on the spot, while others were buried under debris, added the police.
"I ran outside and started screaming for help. Neighbours rescued them and shifted to Victoria Hospital," Gautham told DH.
On being alerted, Fire and Emergency personnel came to the spot and retrieved Mahantesh's body on early morning, said the police.
The CK Achukattu police have registered a case against Chitti Babu, the owner of the construction site and also against the contractor.
