Speaking at the two-day symposium on world peace, ‘Chintana Chilume’ organised by Paryaya Putthige mutt here on Saturday, he said that peace is the basic requirement for development. Unfortunately, the attention on the importance of peace has diminished. On the contrary, several organisations have taken birth in several countries to promote, encourage and spread violence around the globe. The organisations that are striving for establishment of peace have lost their voice and become weak, he said.

Only India, which taught world peace to the world, has the right to take lead in the direction. India is the only country in the world which has not invaded any country but itself became the target of invasion by foreigners. India is the only country which strongly believes in unity in diversity where different religions coexist, he said. The seer informed that he has planned to set up a “Sarva Dharma Granthalaya” at Geetha Mandira where the documentation of all available precious rare manuscripts will be made available. In this direction, the Union Human Resource Department (HRD) ministry has donated a mobile bus with all facilities at the cost of Rs 1 crore to Paryaya Putthige mutt.

Mother of Sorrows Church Religious Head Rev Fr Mathew Vaz said that there is a need for re-establishment of peace and universal brotherhood which would help in containing violence and terrorism. No religion preaches violence, he added.

Sri Siddharuda mutt Beedar seer Sri Shivakumara Maharudra Swamiji inaugurated the symposium.
