Police nab five drug smugglers; seize stash, guns

The Mangaluru (South) Anti Rowdy Squad, succeeded in arresting five notorious rowdy-sheeters and seized the narcotic—MDMA Crysta-- two pistols and 22 live rounds of ammunition, from the gang.

DCP (Crime) Uma Prashanth said, that the arrest was made while checking vehicles. The Anti Rowdy Squad headed by an ACP were on rounds near Gurpura Bridge.

The police seized a car worth Rs 7 lakh, 11 ganja balls worth Rs 5,500, the narcotic MDMA Crystal (100 gram) worth Rs 1.80 lakh, two pistols, 22 live rounds worth Rs 1.15 lakh, 11 mobiles worth Rs 81,000 and Rs 63,690 cash. The value of the total property seized is Rs 11,45,190.

The arrested are T H Riyaz (38) from Pavoor, Usman Rafiq (29) of Salethooru, Abdul Rauf (30) from Uppala, Imthiyaz Ahammed (40) of Uppala and Hajwar (30) from Jogi Mutt Road in Vittal.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they were smuggling drugs from Mumbai for sale in Kerala and Karnataka .

DCP Uma said that the prime accused T H Riyaz, was a notorious history-sheeter wanted in over 40 cases in Kerala.

Riyaz was engaged in smuggling narcotics from Mumbai to be sold in different parts of Kerala and Karnataka. There are warrants against him issued by courts in Payangadi and Bekala police stations in Kerala.

There are seven cases against Usman Rafiq in Karnataka and Kerala. He is also wanted in a murder case in Manjeshwara Police Station in Kerala. There was also a case registered against him for possessing a pistol illegally, at Sanjaya Nagara Police Station four months ago. He was released on bail recently.

Abdul Rauf, along with Riyaz, was active in selling narcotics. There are three cases against Imthiyaz Ahmed in Manjeshwara Police sation.
