The Lok Sabha elections are likely to delay the SSLC results this year as teachers appointed for evaluation are also deputed for poll duty.

The SSLC examination system has been digitized for the first time. After evaluation, the marks are uploaded to the online server.

Lok Sabha elections are being held in two phases in the state. The voting for first phase is scheduled on April 18 and that for second phase is on April 23. A significant number of teachers deputed for evaluation, have been roped for poll duty also and they will have to participate in training sessions.

Director of Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, V Sumangala, told DH that the evaluation of SSLC answer scripts will begin on April 10 as scheduled. “But, evaluators will have to attend three-day training for poll duty also. This may hamper evaluation,” she said. The director said that the results may not be declared as early as it was planned. “Election duty is also important. We have not yet decided on the date for announcing results.”

She said that SSLC examination was “very good” this time. The question papers were creative and students also did not find them difficult. Strict measures were taken to prevent question paper leak.

However, there were reports of teachers allowing mass copying at a few examination centers, particularly in North Karnataka districts. Though CCTV cameras had been installed at exam centers, attempts were made to facilitate mass copying by switching off the cameras.
