Multi-lingual actor Prakash Rai, on Tuesday, filed a defamation case against Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha for making derogatory statements against him.

The actor, along with his lawyer M Mahadevaswamy, submitted an application at the IV Judicial Magistrate First Class court, seeking a compensation of Re 1. The case has been registered under IPC Sections 499, 500 and 503. The court, which received the application, postponed the hearing to March 3.

Rai said, "The MP had made derogatory and personal remarks against me. He had uploaded the messages on social media. I had sent him three notices, of which he received only one."

The actor said he was thinking of filing a defamation case against Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde also, for his remarks against him.
