'Provide facilities to tribals under Forest Rights Act'Eligible will be given title deeds soon

Speaking at the district-level forest rights committee meeting in Madikeri on Monday, he said “to improve the standard of living of those who are residing inside forest, central government implemented Forest Rights Act. Those tribals who come under the Act must be provided with all the facilities.”

Nagarahole Reserve Forest DCF Vijayarajan Singh said “its an important project. One must be very sensitive while implementing the Act. Officials must be careful to see that there is no loopholes while distributing Rs 10 lakh to beneficiaries. The project must be implemented in phases.”

Zilla Panchayat Standing Committee on Social Justice President S N Rajarao emphasised that the Act should not be misused.

ITDP Officer S R Ghanti said “title deeds have been distributed to 33 tribals in Channangi hadi, 20 from Diddalli, 22 from Dayyada Hadlu, 33 in Chottepare, 4 in Kotemacchi in Virajpet taluk under the Act. 19 tribals of Sajjalli in Somwarpet taluk have also been given title deeds. The eligible beneficiaries will be given title deeds at the earliest, he informed.
ACF Alexander, Shashidhar and Chandrashekar said “the Act will help the tribals to come to the mainstreams of the society. All should come forward to avail the benefits. The NGOs should also support the government in this regard.”

ZP member Meenakumari, Taluk Social Welfare officers and others were present.
