A college student from Puttur who was on a tour to Kodagu, died as the car he was driving reportedly met with an accident, at Mandalpatti on Wednesday night.
The deceased is Shivanand Naik (23), a III BSW student in St Philomena College, Puttur.
Shivanand along with his friends had arrived at famous tourism spot Mandalpatti on Wednesday night. When his friends began making arrangements to sleep after dinner at Mandalapatti, Shivanand went towards his car to get blankets for him.
After sometime, his friends heard a noise and upon reaching the car parking area, they saw the car fallen into a 700 ft deep valley, said one of his friends. A case has been registered with Madikeri rural police.
