With the district administration making all arrangements for the much-awaited visit of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (Cesc) employees were on their toes on Thursday installing UPS inverters to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the houses of two farmers at Panakahanahalli and Kothathi, of course, on a temporary basis.

Though the whole wiring of the house has been changed and it has been ensured that there will be no power disruption on the day, the Cesc authorities are taking extra care by installing UPS inverters. The cable network of both the houses has been disconnected.
Neighbours have been strictly warned not to venture out of their houses. Krishnegowda, one of the neighbours, said the police have informed him that two cops will be on vigil in front of his house. Barricades have been erected around the houses to be visited by Rahul, with tight police security.

Bushes have been cleared, DDT powder has been sprinkled and roads repaired.

Cheque
Though Madegowda of Kothathi committed suicide, unable to repay debts, on July 26, compensation had not been paid to his family till October 7.

As soon as the date of Rahul Gandhi’s visit was confirmed, officials rushed to his house and presented a cheque for Rs 2 lakh to his wife on Thursday morning.

Interaction
Finally, 25 farmers, 30 scientists, 20 students studying in final year at the University of Agricultural Sciences and 100 other farmers will have the opportunity to participate in the interaction with Rahul Gandhi. The students have been given orientation on replying to Rahul’s questions.

Banners
Though Rahul Gandhi is visiting the district to meet the farmers and to instil confidence among them, a number of banners welcoming him were seen dotting the route, thanks to the Congress party workers.
