IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge on Wednesday clarified that their family would never blame the entire Muslim community for the sad incident of their house being burnt down by the Razakars in the past.
Kharge hit back at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for raking up the childhood tragedy of Priyank’s father and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, during an election rally in Maharashtra.
Adityanath had mentioned how the Hyderabad Nizam’s Razakars burnt down Kharge’s house in 1948, killing his mother and sister.
Reacting sharply to the UP CM’s remarks, Kharge said no doubt his father had lost his sister, mother and house during that tragic incident. But his father (Mallikarjuna Kharge) never held any community responsible for that.
“It was done by Razakars and that’s about it,“ he said.
He said all communities had bad elements and
for this, the entire community cannot be held responsible.
“Different communities have insulted us (Dalits) in many ways. Let Yogi speak about those insults also. It is we who lost precious lives, our home. Why should they speak about us? Who are they to speak about our family affair?”
Kharge questioned whether Yogi would allow anyone from his (Dalit) community enter a temple where he (Yogi) offered prayers.
He sought to know why President Draupadi Murmu was not invited for the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya?. “Yogi should answer this question first,” Kharge said.
