Bengaluru: The Karnataka high court on Friday extended the interim protection from arrest to former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in relation to a case registered against him under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. Justice Krishna S Dixit also granted time to file objections to the two petitions filed by Yediyurappa.
During the hearing, the court was informed that the police have filed the charge sheet in the case on Thursday and hence the petitions would not survive for consideration. The State Public Prosecutor-2 assured the court that he would file objections to the petitions. The hearing has now been adjourned by two weeks.
Yediyurappa had filed two petitions, one seeking anticipatory bail and another seeking quashing of the FIR registered by the Sadashivanagar police. The complaint alleges that he had sexually harassed the 17-year-old daughter of the complainant woman on February 2, 2024 when they had gone to his house seeking his help. Incidentally, the complainant woman died of cancer on May 26, 2024.
