The Sringeri Sharada peetha has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reviving the ‘Sarvajna Peetha’ located in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Members of the Sarvajna Peetha Punarutthana Samithi during a visit to Sringeri had complained to Sringeri Mutt pontiff Bharatiteertha Swami about the total neglect of Sarvajna Peetha, located in Sharada village of PoK.
Bharatitheertha Swami informed here that the mutt administrative officer Dr V R Gowrishankar had written a letter to the prime minister and had appealed to him on reviving the Sarvajna Peetha.
“Hindus should be allowed to visit the place once in a year,” Bharatiteertha Swami said, quoting the letter. On the Samithi’s request, the pontiff said the Sringeri Mutt was ready to contribute for the revival of Sarvajna Peetha. Adi Shankaracharya, the founder of Sringeri Sharada Peetha, had ascended the ‘Sarvajna Peetha’ throne after winning a debate with scholars, the seer said.
