Chikkamagaluru/ Madikeri: The copious rainfall since Monday night has inundated bridges and roads in Chikkamagaluru district, thus losing connectivity to villages. As a precautionary measure, the district administration on Tuesday has declared holiday for schools and colleges in five taluks of the district.

Holidays have been declared in Kalasa, Mudigere, Koppa, N R Pura and Sringeri taluks.

Following bountiful showers, Balehonnur- Magundi road has remained under water and movement of vehicles has been restricted. River Bhadra is flowing on roads at Teppadagundi, Bairegudda on Kalasa- Balehonnur road and vehicular movement has been suspended.

There was about four feet of water on Sringeri-Karkala road near Nemmar.

Heavy rain in Kodagu

Meanwhile, intensity of rainfall increased in Kodagu district. Heavy rain was experienced at Bhagamandala, Sampaje, Emmemadu, Madikeri areas. The district administration has declared a holiday for schools in the district. PU Deputy Director Manjula said that holiday has been declared for PU colleges in the district as well.

In Dakshina Kannada district

Heavy rain coupled with gusty wind lashed various parts of Dakshina Kannada district. Water- level in rivers Nethravathi and Mrityunjaya have increased in Belthangady. Holiday has been declared for schools in Belthangady taluk.
