On the eve of polling day on Friday night, flying squad and police sleuths recovered Rs 55.47 lakh unaccounted cash from different places in Ballari, Chitradurga, Chamarajanagar districts.
It is suspected that supporters of various candidates had planned to distribute money among voters.
In Hiriyur rural police jurisdiction, the sleuths seized Rs 27.5 lakh from two persons.
In a separate incident, the sleuths detained Bharath, a BJP worker, at BJR Layout in Hiriyur town, and recovered Rs 3 lakh from him.
The sleuths detained a car driver Swamy and recovered Rs 24.5 lakh from his car at Metikurke village in Hiriyur taluk.
The sleuths raided an abandoned house at Danapur village in Mariyammanahalli in Hosapete taluk, Ballari district, and recovered Rs 2 lakh, all Rs 2,000 denomination notes.
They were planning to distribute the cash when the raid took place.
They fled from the spot after the raid.
In Chitradurga Rural police jurisdiction, the sleuths seized a car and recovered Rs 14 lakh being transported without documents.
While in Chamarajanagar, the sleuths arrested three persons in two different places for allegedly distributing money among the voters.
They arrested a man near Lingnanapura, who was distributing money during wee hours of Saturday, at Linganapura village, Kollegal taluk and recovered Rs 11 lakh from him.
Two persons were arrested at Venkataiahanachatra, Chamarajanagar taluk, under the same charges and Rs 97,000 cash was recovered from them. The arrested are Nagendra and Rudra.
