Days after waiving off the requirement to carry a negative RT-PCR certificate for Covid to enter Karnataka from Maharashtra, the state on Thursday extended the same waiver to Kerala and Goa.
In a circular dated February 17, Principal Secretary, Health, TK Anil Kumar, said, in view of the current Covid situation, the mandate of possessing negative RT-PCR test report shall be discontinued for those arriving from the states of Goa and Kerala arriving by airways, railways, road transport and personal vehicle.
However, those arriving from these states have to present a two-dose vaccination or a full-dose vaccination certificate.
This circular comes a day after Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan's letter to states and union territories on Wednesday saying, "While effectively managing the public health challenge of Covid-19, it is equally important that movement of people and economic activities should not be hampered by additional restrictions imposed at State level points of entries."
"The case trajectory across the nation is showing a sustained downward trend. It would be useful if the States reviewed and amended or did away with the additional restrictions so imposed after considering the trend of new cases and positivity within the State/Union Territories," the letter said.
