High Jumper Sahana Kumari who was qualified for the London Lympics along with her husband Nagaraj and daughter Pavana visited Someshwar Anandashrama school on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, she said “Anandashrama school encouraged me to take up sports.
It was with the help of late Jalandhar Rai and physical education teacher Taranath Rai I was able to excel in sports. As a student, I was more interested in sports. Along with my sister Harshini, I had taken part in kabaddi, kokko and high jump.”
She called upon the students to excel in the field of interest.
She said that the school did not have proper ground when she was studying. “In spite of lack of facilities, we have excelled in sports,” she said.
She was felicitated on the occasion. She later visited Saraswathi colony, where she had grown up as a child and paid visit to family deity.
