Sandeep Patil assumed charge as the new City Police Commissioner of Mangaluru on Friday.
He took charge from the outgoing City Police Commissioner T R Suresh.
Sandeep Patil of 2004 IPS batch had served as the Superintendent Police of Ballari, Kodagu, Davangere, Belagavi, DCP of Bengaluru City North and Central, and Intelligence SP. After, being promoted as DIG, he was serving as the DIG of Police of the State Reserve Police and CAR, Bengaluru.
Suresh had taken charge as the city police commissioner on June 12, 2017. Following the Legislative Assembly election, he was transferred from April 18 to June 18. Later, he took charge as the city police commissioner.
Speaking to media persons, Patil said all the good works initiated by the city police commissioners in the past will be continued.
“My priority is to maintain peace, law and order in the City Police Commissionerate jurisdiction. We will also find solutions to check the density of traffic and to check crime. Measures will be taken to ensure the safety of women and children. Steps will also be taken to check drug menace. Reforms will be introduced in policing,” he added.
As the Lok Sabha election is approaching, the priority will be on conducting the election peacefully, he added.
