Belagavi: A 35-year-old second division assistant at the taluk office has died by suicide by hanging himself in the tahsildar’s cabin. The deceased Rudranna Yadavannavara, in a purported video, has blamed tahsildar and two others for his death.
Rudranna had posted purported video in the WhatsApp group of tahsildar’s office staff on Monday evening, in which he blamed tahsildar Basavaraj Nagaral, another officer Ashok Kabbaligera and Somu, an outsider, for his death. It is said that a minute after this video was posted, the tahsildar removed Rudranna from the group.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohan Jagdish said that Rudranna hung himself from the fan in the tahsildar’s room by about 7 on Tuesday morning. The incident came to light after 10 AM when the office staff arrived for duty.
Based on a report of the tahsildar , the deputy commissioner had transferred Rudranna to Savadatti Yellamma Development Board. Rudranna’s wife, who was working in the same office had been trasferred two months ago.
The police conducted mahazar for over eight hours. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem at the district hospital.
BJP workers staged a protest alleging that Rudranna ended his life due to harassment by the personal assistant of minister Laxmi Hebbalkar. They demanded that the minister should tender resignation owning moral responsibility.
