Bengaluru: The Department of Kannada and Culture on Friday released a list of the selection committees for Kannada Rajyotsava Awards 2024.

The list includes about 50 experts from various fields such as literature, medicine, law, administration, music, theatre, dance, cinema, arts and environment with the Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi as the head of the committee. 

Dr C S Dwarakanath, Dr K Kumar, Jayannachar, Pandit M Venkatesh Kumar, Nagesh Hegde represent law, dance, sculpting, music and environment respectively, Hamsalekha and Ravi Chandran from the film industry, Joseph Hoover from sports, K Channappa from industry are part of the committee. 

Rajyotsava Awards, the second highest civilian awards, are conferred annually by the Karnataka government on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava, marked on November 1. The award carries a purse of Rs 1 lakh, a 20-gm gold medal and a citation. This year, the government is set to confer the award on 69 people. The awards will be presented at Vidhana Soudha by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
