Bengaluru: JD(S) Supremo H D Devegowda on Friday suspended senior leader C M Ibrahim from the party. His suspension follows him being earlier removed from the post of the state president, after he rebelled against the party decision to ally with the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Ordering Ibrahim’s suspension, Gowda stated that he rebelled against the party’s decision to ally with the BJP, even though he actively took part in several meetings, where the party’s decision was discussed.
That apart, while the party had removed as the state president and dissolved various committees headed by him, Ibrahim had claimed that his removal was illegal and that he was still the state president. He had even sought the resignation of leaders, who supported the JD(S)-BJP alliance, the suspension order from Gowda stated. “Ibrahim has been suspended with immediate effect in the interest of the party,” Gowda said.
