The unnatural death report of Shiroor Mutt seer Lakshmivarateertha Swami was handed over to the assistant commissioner of Kundapur, with a recommendation to close the case.
The assistant commissioner, who is the quasi-judicial body, is authorised to close the case.
Udupi Superintendent of Police Lakshman Nimbargi told DH that the report says that the seer's death was natural and caused due to liver cirrhosis.
The seer had died at the Kasturba Medical College Hospital in Manipal on July 19.
