Shiv Sena is trying to rake up the border issue with Karnataka to divert the attention of the people of Maharashtra to cover up the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government's failure in administration, Karnataka BJP MP Shivakumar Udasi alleged in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
“Shiv Sena has failed miserably to maintain law and order situation in Maharashtra. To divert the people's attention, Shiv Sena is raking up the border issue,” he said in Lok Sabha.
The Belagavi issue was settled long back as the Mahajan report was final in that matter. By raising the border issue, Shiv Sena is trying to create tensions among people residing in the border villages, Udasi said.
Udasi was countering Sena MP Arvind Sawant, who during Zero Hour alleged that Shiv Sena leaders were attacked by pro-Kannada activists in Belagavi.
Sawant alleged that Marathi-speaking people in Karwar and Belagavi were under threat from pro-Kannada activists.
The remarks evoked a strong response from BJP MPs from Karnataka, who got up from their seats and started protesting.
